1st Black to own a Rolls Royce Dealership
Thomas Moorehead is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. A native of Monroe, Louisiana, he has the global distinction as the world’s first Black Rolls-Royce dealer. He was just a few credits shy of a Ph.D. in social work at the University of Michigan when a fraternity brother named James Bradley offered him a challenge to sell cars. After a trip to Detroit, he was committed and thrived. He sold Buicks, BMWs, Mini Coopers, and the Sterlington, Virginia Rolls-Royce dealership noticed his track record and in 2013, signed him on as their first Black dealer. He is also an investor in many other ventures as he owns a chain of Marriott Residence Inn hotels and has a real-estate portfolio of over 40 corporate properties. He and his wife operate the Joyce and Thomas A. Moorehead Foundation to support students, families and nonprofit organizations in northern Virginia.
