Casme lights up the room with her set at Essence of Soul Fest.

When Inspirational Indie Artist, “Casme”, began preparing for Essence of the Soul Fest she was immediately met with opposition. However, it was her goal to give Christian artists an opportunity to reach an untapped audience in New Orleans during Essence Music Festival Weekend. She continued to evolve her idea and defeated every obstacle.

4x Stellar Nominee and 11x Billoard Hit Songwriter, Earnest Pugh, headlined the event. Pugh didn’t hold back either. With a live band, background singers, and a range that can break glass windows, he ushered in a praise like never before. The anointing on his life was immediatley obvious. He sang all his popular songs including his new single, “Breathe” and the crowd sang right along with him.

Louisiana native, Bri Babineaux, performed as well. She led the audience into worship and set the atmosphere for the rest of the evening. Babineaux is a 2x Stellar Award Winner.

Keyondra Lockett sings at Carver Theatre

Another Louisiana native (now residing in Atlanta), Keyondra Lockett, performed a few of her popular songs as well. Her range and vocal control was very exciting. Lockett is the only Gospel Artist in America with her own baby doll. Even though she spoke about her doll and her recent success, she reminded everyone that God never gives up on ‘they who believe’.

The highlight of the evening, perhaps, was Casme herself. She opened her performance in a wedding dress. Her background singers and dancers all set the stage for a mock wedding as Casme performed her song entitled, “The Wedding Song.” She gave a full set with a full band and every minute of it was pulsating. Her ability to move between genres is very valuable. She does it with so much ease and authenticity that she claims her own space in the industry every time she touches a stage. She sang her popular single, “Black”, and it truly inspired the audience.

Singers and rappers from all over the country attended the event. She has already began working on this event for next year and promises it will be even better for Essence 2018.
